OrgCodes Explained

The current OrgCode scheme was introduced in the 1980s as a way to provide unique codes for Adventist organizations worldwide. The 6-character format indicates the organization's relationship to "parent", "child" and "sibling" organizations by character position and character choice.

Currently, the eAdventist team creates OrgCodes for NAD organizations and the GC Archives & Statistics team creates OrgCodes for all other divisions.

Beginning in 2023, some Divisions needed more unique codes and the General Conference has recently started to create 7-character OrgCodes for them. eAdventist plans to support for 7-character codes in the near future.

Character Choice

Each character in the OrgCode is an upper-case alpha character (A-Z) or a numeric digit (1-9). "Zero" (0) is not used in the OrgCode.

Exception: eAdventist uses "zero" (0) in the third position to indicate unofficial OrgCodes of non-NAD churches that have been added to facilitate international transfers.

Repeated "ones" (1) indicate an administrative organization:

A11111 - General Conference

AN1111 - North American Division

ANP111 - Pacific Union

ANPP11 - Southeastern California Conference (Pacific Union)

A single "one" (1) indicates a sub-organization of an administrative organization:

ANP12Y - Pacific Union College (Pacific Union)

A conference church is usually indicated by the fifth and sixth characters being identical to the fourth (Conference) character:

ANFFFF - Michigan Conference Church

ANWFFF - Texas Conference Church
